Why Named Schedules #
A named schedule is a reusable set of working hours that many event types can share. Editing the schedule updates every event type that points at it, which is far more reliable than maintaining the same hours in several places.
Creating One #
In Availability, choose New schedule, give it a descriptive name such as “Client hours” or “Interview panel”, set its time zone, and define the weekly ranges. Names are visible only to you and your team.
Assigning to Event Types #
Open an event type, find the availability section, and select the schedule from the dropdown. Event types that need one-off hours can instead choose Custom hours, which stores availability inside the event type and is not shared.
The Default Schedule #
One schedule is marked default and is applied to every newly created event type. Change the default from the schedule’s overflow menu. The default schedule cannot be deleted while it holds that status.
Common Patterns #
- Client hours — a narrow window for external meetings, typically mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
- Internal hours — wider ranges for colleagues who can be flexible.
- Deep work protection — mornings turned off entirely so focus time is never bookable.
- Regional coverage — a schedule anchored to a customer time zone for an overseas market.
Deleting a Schedule #
Deleting is blocked while event types still reference the schedule. MixCalendar lists the dependants so you can reassign them first. Existing bookings are never affected by a deletion.
